Seeing projects through from conception to creation, Blindsheep Productions is a Vancouver-area multimedia arts studio with the unique ability to tackle cross-medium challenges commercially and privately.
JOSEPH SONES
Joseph Sones, the founder of Blindsheep, is a maker who has been immersed in the world of creation since he was a child. Wood carvings, metal sculptures, or plaster -- the medium itself changes from day to day, but the process of creation remains a constant; especially when it involves a combination of disciplines.
He has spent many years working in niche markets that blend his trades background with his love for art, and in 2009 he partnered with Lyonstone Designs to focus on designing and making architectural accents for award-winning architects and designers.
Since leaving the architectural industry in 2015, Joe has been active in the film industry as a set sculptor and building props.
With extensive experience in mold making, architectural casting, traditional carving, sculpting, and conventional trades experience, Joe often takes on creative challenges and projects that most would shy away from. (Probably because they’re wiser than he is.)
Joe is infamously known as the creator of the “Skull Babies”, a collection of sculptures that are manage to be equal parts creepy + cute.
Despite their initially unsettling nature, the Skull Babies have been known to bring giggles and/or mild horror to everyone who meets them:
“That thing makes me feel things, and I don’t know how I feel about that.”
“OMG those are SO cute!!”
”I feel incredibly uncomfortable, but I cannot tell you why.”
”WOW — what is that? I think I might love it...”
— things people say about the Skull Babies
Joe is committed to pushing creative boundaries in a way that makes people think twice. If you’re looking for questionable art and quality work, you’re in the right place.
